Description
An Anhinga, or Snake Bird, perches on a branch while drying its wings. This was taken in St. Johns, Florida. Other names for the Anhinga are Darter, Devil Bird and Water Turkey. The name Anhinga is from the Tupi language of Brazil meaning Devil Bird. It swims low in the water with just its neck and head showing, resembling a snake.
